Business Issue
Corporations give a lot of attention to
vendor selection and contract agreement while ongoing management
gets less of a priority. Relationship management should also be the
focus as there are hidden challenges when outsourcing. The people
selected to manage the relationship are usually technical experts
and often lack business and relationship management skills.
Suppliers with their own methodologies for project management and
related tools also strain the relationship and performance until
the client fully understands their process. The result is a poorly
managed partnership marked by cost overruns, delays, and low
collaboration and trust placing the value of sourcing beyond the
reach of most. Quality services and collaboration require effective
partnership and trust. Relationship management issues become
critical for successful results.
Workshop Overview
One of the most efficient ways of starting or improving a vendor
relationship is discerning issues critical to successful partnering
and building competence. We will use a comprehensive model to
create the communication infrastructure and build the relationship
management skills.
Relationship
Management is a working session. Information will be collected
prior to the workshop. A post-session analysis report is provided
for further relationship management development.
